Dustin also advocates on behalf of his clients in hearings, injunction proceedings, trials and before state and federal agencies. Dustin is a former President of Dallas HR and is currently serving as the Board Chair on Dallas HR’s overall governing body. Dustin also serves as a Legal & Legislative Director for Texas SHRM. Dustin likes HR so much, he married an HR professional! Dustin, his wife, and his son live in Frisco, Texas with their two dogs, either of which he is willing to give away if there are any takers!
Session Description:
Often times, Human Resources professionals have to take a course of action or stop a course of action based on what they think is best without truly knowing the effects of their decisions. In addition to that, they often make decisions based solely on what a law says or what interpretations or guidance they receive rather than how juries and judges are actually enforcing the laws. In this presentation, attendees will hear the “war stories” from an employment lawyer. He will discuss the employment law trials he has been through and how the HR professional and the HR professional’s decisions affected the trials and their outcomes. He will discuss the facts of the case, the timelines, what occurred during trial, how the judge or jury decided, what HR did that affected the trial, and what HR could have done to assist in the trial.
