Session Description

The Port of Corpus Christi Authority (PCCA), as a major employer in the Coastal Bend, the largest port in the United States in total revenue tonnage, and the third largest export port for crude oil in the world, has an ongoing commitment to recruiting, developing, retaining, and promoting our local top talent. Organizational Development at PCCA focuses on the professional development of our employees and the growth of our whole organization. This session will explore the Port’s organizational development objectives, strategies, and initiatives, as part of its ongoing commitment to recruiting, developing, retaining, and promoting our local top talent.

  

About the Speaker:

Lorena Parada-Valdes joined the Port of Corpus Chris Authority in March of 2021 and currently serves as the Organizational Development Manager. She is responsible for implementing organizational development strategies to manage and embrace change, gauge and foster employee engagement, develop and grow leaders, and build a pipeline of diverse and exceptional talent at the Port of Corpus Chris , with the goal of creating an environment of continuous improvement and ongoing learning. To that aim, she has designed comprehensive yearly plans for employee professional development and has created educational partnerships with local colleges and high schools to provide training programs in high-need areas. Other areas of responsibility include the management of the Port’s internship program and employee recognition programs, along with mentoring, leadership, and succession planning initiatives. In her role, she seeks to foster open dialogue and communication between employees and leadership to identify organizational growth areas and cultivate the next generation of successful leaders at the Port. Lorena holds a Master’s Degree in Justice Management from the University of Nevada-Reno and has over 20 years of experience as a multilingual expert on organizational development, leadership, and cultural competence.
